For Blue Castle Residents
Utility Setup and Transfer Checklist
Confirm which services are your responsibility, use the correct provider and keep activation records.

Start With the Lease
Before contacting a provider, identify which utilities you must place in your name, the required start date and any property-specific instructions. Provider territories and responsibilities differ by property.
Setup Checklist
- Confirm the full service address, unit number and lease start date.
- List each resident-paid service: electricity, gas, water, sewer, trash, internet or another utility stated in your lease.
- Use the provider information supplied by Blue Castle or verify the correct provider from an authoritative local source.
- Schedule service to begin by the date required in your lease or move-in instructions.
- Record each confirmation number, start date and account status.
- Provide proof of activation only through the method requested, without exposing unnecessary account credentials.
- Check that service is working when you take possession and report property-side problems promptly.
Information Providers Commonly Request
| Prepare | Security Reminder |
|---|---|
| Service address and unit | Verify the provider’s official website or phone number |
| Start date | Match it to your lease or written move-in instruction |
| Account-holder identity and contact information | Give sensitive information only through the provider’s secure process |
| Deposit or credit information | Review provider terms before paying |
| Confirmation number | Save it; do not publish it unnecessarily |
During the Lease and at Move-Out
- Keep required resident-paid utilities active for the full period specified by your lease.
- Report outages to the utility first when they affect a wider area; report rental-specific equipment problems to Blue Castle.
- Never tamper with meters, breakers, gas equipment or utility seals.
- Before moving out, follow the lease and written instructions for the correct final service date. Do not shut off a required utility early.
- Retain final readings or confirmations when available.
Utility Emergency
For a downed power line, gas odor, sparking utility equipment or immediate danger, stay clear and call 911 or the utility emergency line as appropriate. Notify Blue Castle after emergency help is contacted.
Your Lease Still Controls
This guide explains practical resident steps but does not change your lease, property rules, written notices or applicable law. Follow the documents and property-specific instructions that apply to your tenancy.
